Helloooo! I’m Kirstin, but feel free to call me “Kir” or “K” if that’s easier. I’m the woman behind this whole operation and it is so nice to virtually meet you! I’m a psychotherapist, interpersonal violence advocate, educator, speaker, and lover of life.
I’m a tall woman with a whole lotta passion and a double side of sass. My biggest passion in life is to help women, children, and men find healing and restoration from the pain they’ve experienced in their life. When people are able to get out of the muck of powerlessness, the daze and fog of depression, or grounded from the skies of anxiety, I have hope. My biggest goal is to help you find your voice, your agency, and your own sense of empowerment. After all, you only have one wild and precious life, so what do you plan on doing with it?
My hope is that by working together, you can move from a life of shame and heartache to one of vivacity, passion, and something I like to call “freedom living”.
I’ve known I was different ever since I was itty bitty. For one, I’m a triplet. It’s true! I have two brothers the exact same age as me. But, even with my triplet-dom aside, I’ve always done things differently than those around me. Sometimes that felt lonely. Sometimes it felt empowering. I’ve been breaking stereotypes and busting down barriers since I was a little girl. I guess I’ve always been a little precocious and rebellious.
Having experienced significant trauma as a child and a teenager, I’ve felt the burden of that life through shame, anxiety, and depression. I often felt a disconnect between my own story and what was being portrayed in media and other people’s lives. So, I kept searching for answers to some of the darkest questions of my being.
I found psychology and decided I wanted to become a therapist when I was just fifteen years old. I began diving into research around trauma and the cultural systems that trauma exists in. Eventually, I’d get my B.S. in Psychology and then shortly thereafter I’d convince my husband that we needed to move to Seattle, WA so I could go to graduate school. Lucky me, he thinks I’m cute and we moved up there not really knowing what to expect. Because I always do things differently, one graduate degree wasn’t enough so I ended up with two: a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Arts in Theology & Culture (emphasis in Social & Global Partnership) from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology.
While I lived in Seattle, I focused most of my time learning about trauma-informed holistic healing. I became entrenched in theories of social justice, feminist psychotherapy, and feminist/womanist theologies. All of these theories and practices stem from advocacy and empowerment for victims and survivors. They have proven to be vital for my own healing and research continues to show that trauma-informed healing must be client-centered and holistic. Thus, most of my work–no matter the format–comes from a very diverse background of subjects and theories. I am by nature a very eclectic human, and I believe that having a very diverse source of practices, traditions, and theories to work from is not only wise, but true of who I am as a clinician and a professional.

Rest assured, I have done my own deep soul, gut wrenching work. I have been in my own psychotherapy multiple times throughout my life. The most recent, I saw my therapist multiple times a week for almost five years. I do not ask my clients to go anywhere I have not been willing to go myself.
May my paradoxical life give you hope and healing. If all else fails, surely we can have a laugh or two.
When I’m not working on my fempire, you can typically find me taking a nap with my dog, joking around with my people, reading a book, riding my bike, or salivating over delicious food.
